BLACK FOREST DUMP CAKE

I am a little behind on sharing goodies that some of my friends have made and served us at our recent gatherings. Just a lot going on I guess. They certainly deserve top billing.

The first one I will share is called Black Forest Dump Cake and Friend Janice made it for the Farkle group that met at her house a few weeks ago. It was so good. I think she took what was leftover to her daughter and her family so that she wouldn't be tempted to eat any more of it.

BLACK FOREST DUMP CAKE

2       21-ounce cans cherry pie filling
1        cup crushed chocolate wafer crumbs
1        16-ounce pkg devil's food cake mix
1/2    cup butter, melted
1/4    cup butter, thinly sliced
1/4    cup water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray or lightly grease a 9 x 13 - inch baking dish.

Spread one can cherry pie filling in prepared baking dish.

Sprinkle wafer crumbs over pie filling. (Janice placed the wafers in a plastic bag and crushed them using a rolling pin.)

Spread second can of pie filling over the crushed wafers.

Sprinkle dry cake mix evenly over pie filling.

Pour melted butter over the cake mix. Fill in any dry spaces with the other 1/4 cup butter thinly sliced.

Carefully pour the water over the top. (This will take care of any dry cake mix you might have.)

Bake 55 to 60 minutes.

Cut into squares when cooled and ready to serve.

Taste great with a scoop of ice cream.
