ORANGE - PEACH DUMP CAKE

101 Hearty Recipes from Gooseberry Patch was another cookbook Friend Janice and I were drooling over recently at an estate sale. Janice decided to buy it because she wanted to make this recipe for Orange - Peach Dump Cake when our quilting group was getting together to play cards. I bought the 101 Homestyle Favorites cookbook and told her we could share them with each other.

This recipe was contributed by Elizabeth Wenk from Cuyahoga Falls, OH. Her comment was "A different flavor combination of this trusty dessert. Try it with a dollop of whipped topping and a sprinkle of orange zest."

Well, Janice did make it and it was de-licious!  Actually "de-licious" isn't strong enough. It was definitely worth buying the cookbook to get the recipe. It is one of those "everyone deserves the real thing ever once in awhile" desserts. No cutting the calories with this one. I can't wait to see what else to try from it. Don't worry, I will be sharing them here.

ORANGE - PEACH DUMP CAKE

1           14 - 1/2 oz can peach pie filling, chopped
1           18 - oz  pkg orange cake mix
2          eggs, beaten
1/2       cup sour cream
Optional: vanilla ice cream

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly spray a 9 x 13 - inch baking dish with cooking spray.

Combine all ingredients except optional ice cream in a bowl and stir to combine. (Janice chose not to "dump" the ingredients in an ungreased pan and stir with a fork as the recipe was written and named.)

Pour batter into baking dish and spread out evenly.

Bake for 40 - 45 minutes.

Can serve with ice cream...

  1. That cake of yours sounds heavenly! I love peaches, and your dump cake take on them looks really delicious. Of course, the addition of ice cream further lured me in, so I'm putting it on top of my to-do list. Thank you so much for sharing! All the best!
